Structure Measurement with Drones

We perform fast and reliable object measurements using advanced drones. We employ two approaches: direct real-time measurement or construction of precise photogrammetric 3D models for comprehensive analysis under controlled office conditions.

Compared with traditional methods, drone capture covers larger areas faster and dramatically shortens field time. Thanks to the RTK GNSS system the data is georeferenced with high accuracy, reducing the need for large numbers of ground control points. The high-resolution wide-angle camera captures images at a low GSD (Ground Sampling Distance), ensuring a high level of detail during processing. At standard flight altitudes a resolution of roughly 1–3 cm/pixel is achievable, depending on flight height and mission configuration. Photogrammetric capture enables the creation of:

  • digital terrain models (DTM),
  • digital surface models (DSM),
  • dense point clouds,
  • 3D mesh models,
  • textured models of objects and infrastructure.

RTK positioning and measurement accuracy

The DJI Matrice 4 series uses an RTK GNSS system supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. RTK enables centimetre-accurate positioning during flight and greatly improves georeferencing of captured data. Typical accuracy is roughly 1–2 cm horizontally and 2–3 cm vertically, depending on capture conditions, flight height and project configuration.

Mission automation with DJI Dock 3

Automating DJI Matrice 4D/4TD flights from the autonomous DJI Dock 3 additionally enables grid mapping, corridor mapping, terrain-follow flight, repeatable measurements of the same areas over time and standardised data capture for comparative analysis. Data is processed in photogrammetric software such as DJI Terra, Pix4D or Agisoft Metashape and exported in standard formats GeoTIFF, LAS, OBJ, DXF and CSV. The combination of RTK positioning, a stabilised gimbal and automated capture delivers high measurement repeatability and consistent data quality even on larger projects.
